I heard an interesting piece on NPR the other day, stating that any researcher who wants to publish on PubMed (the government run National Institutes of Health database) must agree to make the full-text freely available within one year of publication. This means that reliable information on current research in medicine and other sciences will be freely available to us online. I have put the links to PubMed Central and to the Public Library of Science, where you can get full-text information on health and medical issues, on our library Resources page. Here are the links if you want to check them out from here:
Avalon is a bustling little shore town in southern NJ. Our small population of 1800 expands to about 30,000 at the height of summer. We like to think that we serve them all and then some! Our goal is to make our library available to our patrons wherever they may roam.
